File Locations
When "Automatic Installation" is clicked, MSC Pro 5.1 is registered with Windows and follows standard conventions.
The program itself and the Help file will be located in
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Quadtech Associates\MSCPro5".
In Windows 7 through 10, all other files including the Demo Files folder, and any data files created and accessed during use will be in
"C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\QuadtechAssociates\MSCPro5. Note that the AppData directory will only be visible if you have the Show hidden files, folders and drives option enabled, since Microsoft Windows sets that directory to hidden by default.
If you are using Windows XP then the file location will be
"C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\QuadtechAssociates\MSCPro5.
Normally these locations will be accessed by default by the program during all file read and write operations so you should not have to manually locate them. MSC Pro5.1 registers itself as the default program for files with a .msd extension, so you can double click on a *.msd data file to open that file in MSC Pro. If you prefer to remove that association, you can change it with the Default Programs option on the Windows Control Panel (or Settings in Windows 10).
The standard windows convention is to default to the last directory used to open and save program files. If you switch to another directory in Windows Explorer to locate or save a file, then that directory will become the default. If that is what you want, then all is well. However, if you prefer to revert to the initial default data file locations as described above, click on Reset Default Directory on the File menu in MSC Pro and this standard location will be reset. This option is provided to save you from having to trace through the rather lengthy path to revert to the default data directory.
To completely remove MSC Pro5.1 from your computer, use the standard Windows uninstaller on the Settings or Control Panel window.
