Save File...
'Save as...' is an option on the File menus of the Main Structure and Mass Spec Digitizer windows. When this item is selected, a standard Windows dialog box will open to let you select a file name and save the structure or the spectral data to disk. You should type only a file name; MSC will add the appropriate file extension automatically. Always make certain that the default extension is correct since otherwise it is possible to overwrite one file type with another of the same name since all files are stored in the same subdirectory by default. For example, a file named benzene.msd will be a binary MSC Pro structure file that cannot be read by Spectrum. Of course if you save with the wrong extension type by accident, you can always rename the file with the correct extension.
To save a structure as a MOLfile rather than in the default .MSD format, use the drop down box to select the MOLfile format before saving the file. In Mass Spec Digitizer, graphic files can be saved as either bmp or .jpg files. All bitmaps created and used by MSC Pro are 24-bit, and both jpeg and png files are converted to 24-bit bitmaps for internal use. In all cases, standard functions for changing directories and/or drives before saving files are provided.
