Unterminated Bonds

In MSC, an unterminated bond is one that is only attached to a structure at one end, with the other end not located in the proximity of any other atom.  Unterminated bonds can be drawn with the single, double or triple bond objects.  When an unterminated bond is drawn, a terminal carbon is added by default.  Thus to add a methyl group, you would simply draw an unterminated single bond.

Simply clicking on the attachment atom will draw the bond at a pre-determined angle and distance.  However, unterminated bonds also can be drawn manually at any angle and to any length beyond a minimum value of 2-3 mm.  If the bond orientation is nearly vertical or nearly horizontal, then it will be forced to true vertical (or horizontal) by default.
