Alkyl Chain
This is a button located on the palette which, when selected, enables adding multiple carbons as a linear chain in one step. Click on the Alkyl Chain button, then click on an attachment atom and drag the chain out away from the attachment site. A label will appear at the right of the Toolbar above the drawing area reporting the current number of carbons to be added as the mouse is moved.
When the needed number of carbons is indicated, simply release the mouse button. The chain will be drawn as a string of n-1 methylene carbons, with a terminating methyl group.
