Quick Start
Mass Spec Calculator Pro 5.1
This program provides several functions meant to assist in the evaluation of mass spectra. The following links connect to both video and interactive tutorials to help you get started using the drawing, fragmentation and other functions of the program, including interactions with the NIST 14 library.
Video Tutorial
A six minute overview is available
MSC Pro Video
which demonstrates several features and methods of MSC Pro. Some people may find it useful to watch the various operations in the video first, and then try them out within the program, either by following through the onscreen tutorials below, or simply by working on your own.
Interactive Tutorial ...
As an example, this tutorial will cover the construction of a molecule of nicotine, followed by some simple analyses. In the course of this tutorial, you will:
1. Create a chemical structure on screen
2. Edit the structure
3. Examine the Isotopic Profile of the compound
4. Evaluate the Elemental Compositions for a Mass
5. Carry out Manual Fragmentations
6. Autofragment a compound
7. Examine Spectrum and Autofragment Compare options
8. Examine the Integration of MSC Pro with the NIST Library
9. Use Mass Spectrum Digitizer
To begin the tutorial, click on item #1 above. It will be best to follow the tutorial items in order, but you can examine any item you want at any time. As you complete each section, you can either return to this screen, or simply continue on directly to the next item. Note: several of the tutorial topics contain hyperlinks to related topics. If you click on one of the hyperlinks within the body of the tutorial, you can use the 'Back' button to return to the current tutorial when you have finished reading the expanded information section.
